Let's go back...

I hadn't realized it has almost been a month since my last post. Here is the skinny on what has been going on.

I needed to bump my PT test up into July, which gave me 2 options; do I test before or after our Las Vegas trip? BEFORE!!!!! So I took my official PT test the Friday before we left. I not only beat my goal on here, but exceeded it! I even got my first ever "excellent" score. The digits:

Run - 10:05 (I still can't believe this; fastest run in my life. 80% credit to Plyo, 20% to the guy I ran with. If people weren't in the way on the track, I could have probably been sub-10s!)

Pushups - 45
Situps - 40

Total Score - 91.25 EXCELLENT

I don't care what I look like, because my goals were directly set from the start as doing well on my AF PT test. Everything else was icing on the cake anyways!

Now, as for the week in Vegas...yeah...um...COME ON! Yes, drinking and buffets are just the way things are there. We walked the entire strip from Excalibur to the Sahara one day (3.6m by Google maps, not including all of the casinos we walked around in) . We swapped the last recovery week with the second to last week, so everything could be done in our hotel room. Now we are into our "last" week, with just 4 days left in P90X.

I have my opinions on the program, but I'll wait until the 90 day to post them. Take care!

Now it's been a two week gap

Again, another break in the blogging. School and work is starting to pile up again. I skipped a day this week, but I'll make it up this weekend. Of course, now to the reason I am posting today, DAY 60 PICTURES:

Not sticking to the diet is starting to show, but I've still made progress. The last month is the same time that the biggest changes kick in so I'm hoping for the day 90 pics. Vegas is gonna mess up the last month some, but we will still work out there. And getting promoted required some "adult beverages" too!

Another week goes by without a post

School and work is keeping me busy again! I've got to post the pictures my wife took while I was doing Back and Biceps day. I was in the middle of the Corn Cob Pull-ups when I saw the flash, which kind of threw me for a loop. I decided to post them because it was just like the old Master card commercials:

P90x : $120
Quality food: $300
Working out: 50 hrs.
Six-Back in your BACK: Priceless!!

That was Thursday, so I took that confidence into today's Legs and Back trying to do less chair assisted back work. I was able to do about 5 on one, chair assist the rest, 3, chair assist, 3 more, then chair again. When I started the first day I think I could do 1, so YEA!!! Go 6-Back! We are just a few days over half-way, and Tuesday starts the recovery for Phase 2. I'll be on-and-off the road again for a few weeks, but I'm still going strong. If I could just pull my head out of the snack fund...

Stay tuned: 28 June is day 60 pics. With the biggest progress coming from 60 to 90 I'm ready to move past those.

Last week and then some

When I went to California, I had crappy access to the internet, so what went through was primarily school work. I did keep pushing and feel pretty good. I haven't been eating that well for the last week or so, so I think I am putting some back on the midsection, but I think I can shed it pretty easily. Sarah got a set of Powerblock Sportblocks within the last week, so I tried those in place of the bands. This was a little dissapointing, because it didn't take much weight to tire me out. I'm hoping it's just that I've been used to the bands, so we will see how my numbers jump this week. All in all still a good week. Being back home, I've been getting back to more cardio than I have in the last few weeks, but I will be back on the road with just the bands soon, so... =^ (

Despite personal feelings of setbacks, I can tell I am getting better at somethings, mostly ab stuff. With Yoga today I FELT a difference in my back during plough to shoulder staad. I have CRAZY muscle in my lower back, which has actually kept me pain free for quite a while. GO P90X!!

Co-workers have noticed a difference in my change, even though they tend to mock it sometimes. My chest and arms are starting to get defined and my upper back is starting V. I feel comfortable with just a T-shirt on at work with this new look. I noticed the area between my neck and shoulders has grown in to very nice shoulder line. From all of the other posts online, the best results come in the last month, so I'm looking forward to it. I'm jazzed because Monday puts us at the halfway mark!!! Almost there, just gotta keep bringing it.

Progress Report

I failed to mention this in my last post, but instead of adding it, I felt it was deserving of its own post.

On the right I have included my day 29 weigh-in. I think that the progress was more dramatic than I expected. I've known where I was at, but actually writing it next to day 1 provides a different insight. 7 pounds is pretty significant, especially when you consider how much muscle I had to have built and that I have been traveling.

I keep unintentionally losing weight, never planning to lose that much, but I can't fault P90X; that's the POINT of the program! When this escapade is over, I hope to get into more of lifting program to produce mass, but so far I really like this lean muscle. I told Sarah that it is "small but fierce" muscle. Its not a bulging muscle for muscles sake. It has a purpose and I see it relating to just weird hard work, which I tend to find around. So if anyone has an opinion on this, let me know.

Day 29

So it should be obvious at this point that I didn't get the pictures up yesterday, but no fear! I took the pics this morning before I left. When we get to our hotel, I plan on posting them. This morning's workout was fairly hard, but it came with a nice twist. Just seeing a new workout was nice. Good god there were a TON of push-ups!!! It was unfortunate that my wrist started hurting right from the get go, but I still did my share of pushing the floor. All in all, enjoyable; tonight still brings ab ripper. And I hope to get more out of plyo this week. I did bring what I needed to put it on my iPod, in case I need to take it outside this week.

Phase1 Complete!

Ok, so I kind of disappeared. The good news is, we are still going strong and just finished the first 4 weeks. 1/3 done!

Yoga has now become a complete chore. We loathe Yoga, but it's still bearable for now. I'm glad we are back to once a week on Fridays, but this Friday will be tough. I've got another trip scheduled, so I hope I keep going strong. Now that we are going back to more than just cardio workouts, I'll be jazzed.

And (drum roll.....................) The 30-day pictures will really be around day 28, but they will be up Monday!
